Lena
Local-first, encrypted app infrastructure built for Jetseen and Becoming: encrypted local databases, safe backups and restore, iCloud and Google Drive backups, search, StoreKit payments, and privacy-preserving GPS. Source-available on GitHub and published on npm.
the problem
Apps that must stay useful without a company server, and must never lose user data, keep rebuilding the same difficult infrastructure: encrypted storage, backups, restore, search, and payments.
→ the approach
- Pulled the hard offline-first infrastructure out of individual apps into shared contracts, so apps own their domain and Lena owns storage, backup, and payments plumbing.
- Made backups immutable generations with staged restore, so a failed restore never overwrites good data.
- Kept native drivers, cryptography, cloud providers, and StoreKit behind separately gated packages.
